Coal Mining around Mt Harris
Talk & Walk Event

Join us at the Hayden Granary (198 E. Lincoln Ave Hayden- for a talk about our area's coal mining history. Talk is led by Kirk Zabel

Following the talk, participants will meet out at the Mt Harris Memorial Site east of Hayden on Hwy 40 for a walking tour of the former townsite of Mt Harris. 

The walk will start around 11 am after the talk at the Granary. Participants are encouraged to carpool. Parking is limited. Due to the road construction in the area the walk will start once everyone is at the site. Walk will last about 45 minutes. Please dress appropriately. Walking shoes- please do not wear flip flops  as the terrain is uneven and the area can possibly have snakes and debris. Sunscreen, water bottles, and hat are recommended. Participants will need to sign a waiver of participation.  Please contact the museum or let us know at the talk if special accommodations are needed. There are no facilities at the site. NO DOGS ALLOWED.
